BLACKSBURG, Va.--The fall 2013 Video Field Days proved to be very competitive. Every participant was willing to do whatever it took to win the gold.
However, the United States and Luxembourg's technical difficulties caused a major upset.
A leg of United States representative Megan Amraen's tripod would not lock, causing her entire setup to become unbalanced.
"I actually realized it during [the event]. I kept feeling [the tripod] get slanted," Amraen said. "Every time I wasn't touching it, it would slightly lean down."
Amraen also stated that she believes she would have won if it were not for the faulty tripod.
However, the biggest shock was when Luxembourg representative Will Clayton's face plate was missing from his tripod during the first round. Because of this, Luxembourg had to withdraw from the inaugural event.
"I immediately noticed I didn't have a face plate for my tripod. I assumed it would have been on my camera, but it wasn't," Clayton said. "It's rather unfortunate, because I think I would have won that competition."
It is clear that these events were challenging for both countries. However, both teams placed in other events.
The final results of the Video Field Days are posted on the class blog.
