Michelle Harrell and Amelia Shoemaker have a long history together. The pair were friends in middle school and rekindled their friendship in college in a huge way.
The two decided to become the only two fashion students to pair up and co-create their senior collection.
Harrell and Shoemaker wanted to join forces two complement each others’ strengths and weaknesses.
“I have more of a design mind, while [Harrell] has more of a construction mind. We just wanted to combine that together,” Shoemaker said.
Despite it being difficult to work in a pair at times, the twosome’s bond and ability to work together as a team has proven to be successful. Four of Harrell and Shoemaker’s looks will hit the runway on April 8 in Squires Commonwealth Ballroom at Virginia Tech.
The fashion show, this year named Sinful: A Fashionable Affair, is a yearly event hosted by the Fashion, Merchandising, and Design Society.
